Home Cinema - How it works:

Custom home cinemas are designed specifically for each room, taking into consideration the size and dimensions, careful selection of equipment and acoustic design is very important. The image is provided by a projector, which throws the image onto the front of a reflective screen – of which size is generally determined by the dimensions of the room, viewing angle and seating distance.

High definition sources such as a Blu-Ray player or next-generation games machine (PS3 or Xbox360) are hooked into the projector via HDMI cables, the only cables capable of handling 1080p (1920x1080) resolution, currently this is the highest resolution available and gives a pin sharp image, even at 5 metres away.  These sources are connected to a Surround Sound Amplifier, also by way of HDMI – which provides sound to the 5 or 7 surround speakers and either a single or two subwoofers.

The design stage is very important - room dimensions, seating positions and room acoustics need to be properly calculated so that the audio and video can work their magic. To get the most out of any home cinema, careful consideration must be given to a variety of other important factors, like room colour and seating.
